TEACHERS OF POLICE CHILDREN/SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

AGE / YEARS OF SERVICE FOR  NIGERIA TEACHERS.

It could be recalled that in a speech of the president delivered by the minister of education,Mallam Adamu Adamu on the 5th October,2020 at the world Teachers Day that the president has approved 65years of age and 40 years of service for all primary and secondary schools teachers in Nigeria. This cheering news was received with joy by Nigerian teachers.

In furtherance of this gesture, the federal Executive council at a meeting of Wednesday,20th January,2021 also gave approval to the 65years and 40 years as retirement age and years of service respectively for the Teaching profession among other incentives. The New retirement age bill has hitherto passed first reading at the national assembly. This cleared the doubt of not referring to it as a political statement.

Meanwhile,  in a circular No.FME/HRM/S.234/ dated 26th January,2021.from the Federal Ministry of Education signed by the permanent Secretary Arc.Sonny S.T.Echono stated that the implementation of the New age and years of service for the teaching profession takes effect from 1st January,2021.

Unfortunately for the professional teachers of the Nigeria police Force Education unit;the police education management has been insensitive to this directive of Mr.President. The Force Education unit remained adamant and claimed ignorant of the circular to the effect. As a matter of urgency, the minister of Education, the National Assembly and the Inspector general of police attention is here drawn to come to the aid of Teachers of Police schools Nation-wide  who are been denided of the president's gesture. We also passionately appeal to the Honourable member of the NASS to help facilitate the passage of the bill into law so that every organization and MDA's currently exploiting teachers will live up to their responsibilities and do the needful accordingly.

The Force Education unit of the Nigeria police Force has over 5,000 teachers, most of them are trained professionals and regularized into the mainstream of the federal civil service commission and are registered with the teachers registration council of Nigeria(TRCN) .This should be number one qualification.
What is expected from the Nigeria Police Education unit is to separate the seeds from the chaff ,that is screen out professional teachers from those who are not teachers and allow them to benefit from the president's gesture and place others in their rightful places.

Above all;we have been regularized into the Federal civil service commission and as such ,we should be treated as civil servants and not causal staff.

Please :
The Presidency
Hon.Minister of Education
National Assembly
Inspector General of police and NUT should please take note and act fast .
